Zenobia Yvonne Mikel-Young was born in Evans County, GA to Ruby E. Mikel and Lonnie Young. She was the eldest of three siblings, Delores Young and Wayne Young who preceded her in death.
Zenobia graduated from Evans County High where she was a proud Longhorn and member of the class of 1958. She then continued her education at Fort Valley State University. As a wildcat she studied Health Science and found her sisters for life with the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She continued her life with a move to Harlem, NY where she completed her degree in Kinesiology.
In 1977, she began a new life with her marriage to Willie Woods (d). Throughout life, she had many accomplishments, those are to include being a member of the 4H club, ECHS basketball team, Zeta Phi, Beta Sorority, Eastern Star, and 1199 Nurses’ Union. The loves of her life were her two children Tyreese and Mashoko.
Zenobia’s journey through life was characterized by her strength, resilience, love of travel and love for her family and community. Her departure from this world leaves behind a void in many lives she touched.
Zenobia is now resting with her ancestors and other loved ones.
She leaves many to cherish her memories: sister- Delores; daughter- Tyeese Chandler’ son- Mashoko Woods; daughter in law- Tiffany; granddaughter-Shariya Chandler; grandsons-Keon Elsberry; Eman and Xavier Woods; De’Adrian Baisden, Keenan Johnston; great grandchildren- Jaden, Kaleb, Kaine and Kennedy along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
