     Wanda Faye Harris Oglesby of Claxton, Georgia was called to eternal rest in the comfort of her home on Monday, July 1, 2024.  Wanda was born on April 17, 1951 in Manassas, GA to the late Wilden E. Harris, Sr. and Bereather Palmer Harris. 

    In 1974 she married Adolphus Oglesby, Sr.  To this union, they were blessed with two wonderful children. 

    Wanda became a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Manassas, GA at an early age where she served as Youth Director.  She later joined Historic Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Board until her health failed.

    Wanda attended the public schools of Tattnall County and graduated from Tattnall County Industrial High School.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Savannah State College and Master of Education Degree from Georgia Southern College.

    She began her teaching career at Metter Middle School where she taught Social Studies and Science and was advisor to the Beta Club and Y Club.  She later worked at Claxton Middle School before
returning to the Metter School System until her health failed. Wanda was also a member of the Claxton Rosebud Garden Club.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and only daughter, LaToya, She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory: A loving and devoted husband, Adolphus W. Oglesby, Sr.; son, Adolphus W. Oglesby, Jr. (Christine); grands, Kyla Oglesby, Chrystal Torres, Sergio Ayala, and Ramond Torres; three siblings, Wilden E. Harris, Jr. (Faye), Jerry McCall (Valerie) and Barry Brewton Sr. (Helen); three aunts: Dorothy Palmer Miller, Cora Small Hagan, and Helen Holmes of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a grand aunt:  Doretha McLendon of Savannah, GA; sister-in-law, Unja Oglesby; brothers-in-law, Edward C. Oglesby, Sr. (Yvonne), Lavon Oglesby (Margaret), and Jerry Harden, Sr. all of Savannah GA.  Wanda also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
