Leroy Burney Sr was born August 27, 1942 in Reidsville, GA to the late Calvin Burney Sr. and Mrs. Leressa Burney Cox. Leroy attended public school in Tattnall County and learned mechanical skills working on automobiles.  He also has various hobbies fishing, playing cards, tinkering on lawn mowers, barbecuing, and eating banana pudding.  He was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tyson, GA.  Leroy will always be remembered as a caring and giving soul, willing to help and feed anybody.

On the morning of January 26, 2021, the Lord called Leroy home. Years ago, Leroy married Eva Nell.  He was preceded in death by one child Charles Lee Burney, three brothers George Burney, Calvin Burney Jr, and Larry Burney.

He leaves to cherish ten children Kathy Fowler (Scott) of Durham, NC, Leroy Burney Jr. (Jelessa) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Thomas Burney (Desera) of Misawa, Japan, Jermaine McKeever (Terria) of Statesboro, GA, Jerry Love of Metter, GA, Chris Hill of New York, Tim King of Claxton, GA, Torsha Brown of Fayetteville, NC, Dwight Stafford and Eugene Burney both of Claxton, GA. Leroy also leaves four siblings Eloise Keith (Jeff), Sadie Frazier, Tommy Lee Burney (Erma Jean), John Burney (Debra) and a host of loving grandchildren (43), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins, and friends.
