NO WAKE!
Lee Artis Martin Sr., was born November 11, 1935, to the late Frank and Katie Martin in Claxton, GA. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Glenvue Nursing Home, in Glennville, GA.
He was a 1956 graduate of Evans County High School. While in high school he was the first organized football team captain. He scored the first touchdown on the new football field resulting in a win for the team. His height and size made him a star basketball player.
Lee Artis joined First African M.B. Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. S. L. Lee. He served on the Usher’s Ministry for many years. He attended and served until his health failed.
Lee Artis is preceded in death by his parents, Frank, and Katie Martin, two sons, Byron and Lee Artis Martin, Jr.; a great grandson, Damion X Denson and one great-great grandson Deshawn A. Williams.
Memories are shared by his daughter, Annie Louise Williams Moody, three grandchildren, Catrindya E. Williams, Atlanta, GA, LaConda D. Collins, Yorktown, VA, Yativia Monique Moody, Claxton, GA, fifteen great grandchildren. A host of great-great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Special caretakers, Dustin S. Kennedy and Dynesha D. Collins-Slater, special visiting friends, Fran Butler, Rev. Earl Ricks, Jr., and Bernistine Wilkerson.
