Deborah Denise Mikell was born on October 30, 1963 in Miami, FL. On December 15, 2021 she departed this life peacefully at her home in Claxton, GA.
Deborah attended Floral Heights Elementary, Brownsville Jr. High and Miami Northwestern Sr. High in Miami, Fl. In 1981 she moved to Claxton, GA. She was determined to finish her high school education. Receiving her high school diploma was very important to her. She enrolled at Claxton High School where she proudly graduated in the class of 1984. She worked for the Georgia Pacific Company for many years, along with additional occupations throughout her life. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren when she was able. Deborah made sure to let it be known she was in the building by bringing her bull horn. Her favorite saying during their games was “That’s My grandson”. Deborah was well known in her community for her courageous and outgoing personality. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Mikell, mother Bessie Mae Mikell and brother Deale Lewis Mikell.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Billy Lewis Hodges of Claxton, GA, her only child Latoya Mikell Mosely (Terry) of Reidsville, GA; four grandchildren Ivory, Matthew, Alexander and Drew; brother, Pastor Bernice Lee Mikell (Vera) of Miami, Fl; three sisters, Sandra Mikell-Streeter (Alexander) of Miami, FL, Shelia Bacon (late Stanly Bacon), Judy Faye Mikell both of Claxton, GA and a close nephew Antoine Mikell of Claxton, GA.
