Alma Rita (Houston) Youmans

     Mrs. Alma Rita Youmans was born on January 14, 1937 to the late Macedonia Harris Houston and Nelson Shelton Houston in Register, GA.  She passed into eternal rest on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation, Lyons, Georgia after a long illness.  

     She was united in Holy Matrimony to Albert Clyde Youmans, Jr. on February 14, 1959.  She retired from her employment as a seamstress at Claxton Manufacturing Company when the business closed.   

     At an early age, she joined the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Deaconess Board and in the Mission Department.

     She is preceded in death by her parents Macedonia and Nelson Shefton Houston, her husband of 62 years, Albert Clyde Youmans, Jr., one son, Willie James Youmans, thirteen siblings, Ethel, Mary, Beatrice, Alonzo, Jerry, Clarence, Theodore, Alice, Bertha, Denver, Ruby, Pinkie, and Shirley.

     She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Barbara Ann (Harold) Brewton; two sons, Elder John Edward (Queen) Youmans, Thalathia Jerald (Dana) Youmans, all of Claxton, GA; one daughter-in-law Lenora Youmans of Sparta, GA, four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Josephine Youmans of Statesboro, GA, Mrs. Anna Lurine Pondexter of Pompano Beach FL, Mrs. Sadie Davis of Jacksonville, FL and Mrs. Delores Perry of Sanford, FL;  twenty grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives..
